Which Fabrics Need Special Handling?
Not all delicate fabrics fail for the same reason. Understanding how each fabric reacts to heat, water, and agitation is the foundation of proper care:
Silk: Natural protein fibre that weakens when wet and reacts to alkali detergents. Requires cold water wash or dry cleaning with silk-safe solvents. High heat causes permanent damage.
Cashmere: Luxury wool fibre prone to felting and shrinkage. Must be hand-washed or machine-washed in a sealed mesh bag at maximum 30°C with wool-specific pH-neutral detergent.
